Mavs lose Nowitzki to leg injury, game to Spurs as Ginboli scores 8 in 19-0 spurt (AP)

Dallas Mavericks' Jason Kidd looks up from the floor after being called for a foul in the second half of the basketball game against the San Antonio Spurs in Dallas, Sunday, March 23, 2008. The Spurs won 88-81.

Dirk Nowitzki started to grab the part of his left leg that hurt the most, then stopped. He might not have known what to rub first. So the reigning league MVP dejectedly put a hand on his head. Then pounded the court. Nowitzki was injured on an ugly looking fall in the third quarter of Dallas’ 88-81 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, but left the arena without knowing how bad it is.

Ray Allen returns to hit late 3, giving Celtics rare Texas sweep with 94-90 win over Mavericks (AP)

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki (41) of Germany, drives past Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins, right, in the second half of an NBA basketball game in Dallas, Thursday, March 20, 2008. The Celtics won 94-90.

Ray Allen was sitting on the bench in the fourth quarter, arms crossed and a black shirt over his jersey. He was forced to watch James Posey take his place, just like he’d done the last few nights in Houston and San Antonio. With 1:54 left, Allen finally got in. And with 31.7 seconds to go, he nailed the 3-pointer that capped a fun few days in the Lone Star State.
